Peace on Earth

Everyday of Every Year

By G. A. Myers, Hugs from Heaven

They are only three short words in the middle of the message given by angels about the coming of Christ. Said any other time by any other person, those three words would be an empty promise, never to be realized. However, these are not just hollow words offered by a power-hungry politician seeking reelection. They are not a slogan penned by a huge corporation asking you to purchase their products, nor are they a battle cry of a destructive army. No, these are heavenly words, heavy with truth and imbued with hope:

The one thing earth is in search of, hearts are trying to hold on to, and lives are longing to find is peace. Peace from fear of the future; peace from emotional battle scars; peace from worry about money, career, prestige, prominence, or power; and peace from the frustration of wondering whether anyone really cares.

To all of those concerns, worries, and frustrations comes the message of the season that meets the needs of all life. God sent the Christ Child so that, on earth, you could find peace.

This is not a peace intended to last only until the decorations of the Holiday come down or the bills of the post holiday season arrive. This is a powerful peace meant to rule in your heart and life every day of every year. Christ is not just a savior for one day during one month of the year; he is the Savior every day of your life. If you want proof, follow your peace away from the manger and on into life. See how he brought healing to a paralytic, sight to the blind, hope to a widow who had just lost her son, and forgiveness to everyone as he stretched his arms over two beams of wood and reached across history to embrace you today.

Yes, peace on earth can be found. It starts in a manger, is finished on the cross, and lives in your hearts forever – because he’s coming again.

Peace on Earth. Peace be with you all.

Happy Holidays

Hidden Advantages

Of Waiting for a Transplant

Transplant Times

If you’re waiting for a transplant,
you’ve probably got a lot on your mind.

Many patients worry about how long they’ll have to wait before an organ becomes available for them. Will they be ready when it does? What will the surgical recovery period be like? If you’re receiving a live donor organ, your “unknowns” are fewer, but you still have questions and concerns.

One of the most important things you can do at this point is stay healthy. If an organ becomes available and you’re sick, have an active infection and are on antibiotics, you may miss that organ. There are things you can do every day to increase your chances of being ready when the time comes for your transplant surgery.

Whether you’re having a kidney, liver, heart or other organ transplant, follow your diet as prescribed by your doctor and stay as physically active as you can. Check with your cardiologist, nephrologist, hepatologist or primary care physician to make sure the exercise you choose is right for your current physical condition. If you’re in excellent to good condition, you can probably use a treadmill, swim, do weight training or jog. If you’re in good to fair condition, you might try walking, swimming, golfing or weight training – using 40 pounds or less. If you’re in poor condition, you’ll be doing well to keep up with your daily activities like shopping or taking care of yourself.

If you are well, how can you stay that way?

There are some simple things to do and not to do when you want to avoid infection. These infection-preventing activities will be of value to you now and after your transplant, and they’re simple. Avoid sick people and wash your hands frequently. Use waterless Hand Sanitizer after shaking hands, touching the handle of a grocery cart, on the silverware at a restaurant and after using the salt and pepper shaker. Clean the headset before using the telephone.

The hand of God protects our way
When we would do His will;
And if through danger we must go,
We know He’s with us still.
